Common questions
What does bespoke software cost now?
Typically a small fixed-price project, often comparable to a year or two of subscriptions for an off-the-shelf product that half fits. We quote after a short scoping conversation, and the quote is fixed.
What happens to our data?
Your business data is always yours. We host the system securely, keep it backed up, and can export your data in a standard format whenever you ask.
What about maintenance and hosting?
We host and look after what we build for a modest monthly fee covering updates, backups, security and small changes. You get one number to call when you want something tweaked, and it's usually done in days.
How long does a typical project take?
Two to six weeks to a first working version is typical. We start with the smallest useful version deliberately, so you're getting value while the ideas are still fresh.
Are we locked in?
No. There's no long contract on the hosting, and your data comes with you in standard formats (spreadsheet exports and documents) whenever you ask. We'd rather keep you because the system is good than because leaving is hard.
What if something happens to Maker?
A fair question to ask any supplier our size. Everything we build runs on mainstream cloud infrastructure using widely-used technology, not something obscure only we understand, and your data is exportable at any time. Where continuity matters contractually, we're happy to agree arrangements up front.
